Introducing Nasra Elmi, a social entrepreneur dedicated to nurturing female health. She is currently building Karti Care and aiming to support women's wellness journey through holistic methods. Nasra, referred by a friend and mentee, joined FÉ in July 2023 and has been an active mentee ever since. With her impressive journey in our program last year, she's back for more.

This year, our mentor-mentee partnership with Nasra is evolving through bi-monthly sessions focused on nurturing her entrepreneurial journey and enhancing her soft skills. We're proud to elevate leaders across various industries at FÉ.

The meaning of mentorship

“For me mentorship means accountability. Sometimes you set so many goals and you drown in them. A mentor provides clarity and someone you can fall back on. I find this extremely important for women (of colour). We often close doors that are not ‘natural’ for us. When you see someone who looks like you and who is in positions that you would not even dream about, you suddenly realize it is possible! It’s important to stand next to each other and have a support system to achieve your goals.”

Advice for future mentees
“Be open. It is a safe environment. As women we feel a lot of emotions and quickly think something is too much and we are exaggerating. The moment you open up you’ll notice we all go through the same things but in different ways.

Ask questions and don’t feel ashamed. You can learn a lot from your mentor’s life experience. I felt safe and comfortable with FÉ. I experienced peace because I was empowered with this program and also given the right tools to move forward!”
